This role is critical for ensuring that all plant equipment operates efficiently, that preventive maintenance is conducted on time, and that the maintenance team is trained and capable of resolving complex technical issues. The Maintenance Manager is also responsible for managing the department’s budget, safety programs, and project planning to support the organization’s operational goals.

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the supervision and management of the Maintenance Department. The Maintenance Manager is also responsible for managing the department’s budget, safety programs, and project planning to support the organization’s operational goals.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Safety and Compliance:
- Work with the safety coordinator to implement and maintain safety programs, ensuring all maintenance activities comply with OSHA, NEC, NFPA, and company safety policies.
- Ensure that all maintenance personnel are trained in and adhere to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety protocols.
- Provide direct supervision to the Maintenance Supervisor and Electro-Mechanical Technicians, ensuring work is completed efficiently and according to established standards.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, offer feedback, and facilitate ongoing training for all maintenance personnel.
- Maintain clear lines of communication with all departments, providing status updates on equipment and project progress.
- Administer the COGZ Maintenance Management System, ensuring all maintenance records are up to date and accurate.
- Develop and manage the weekly maintenance schedule, coordinating with production to minimize downtime.
- Provide and distribute Preventive Maintenance (PM) work orders and ensure the timely completion of PM tasks.
- Collaborate with manufacturing management to schedule downtime for maintenance and repairs.
- Provide technical support to both the Maintenance Supervisor and Electro-Mechanical Technicians, especially in complex troubleshooting and repairs of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Work closely with maintenance personnel to resolve issues beyond their capability, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices by reviewing technical publications and working with vendors.
- Plan, schedule, and manage maintenance projects, including those involving external contractors.
- Obtain quotes, direct contractor activities, and ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Coordinate with other departments for cross-functional projects and implement safety and operational improvements.
- Contribute to the development and management of the maintenance department’s budget, focusing on cost control and the efficient use of resources.
- Maintain appropriate levels of spare parts inventory to ensure the continuous operation of equipment and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance, equipment repairs, and spare parts usage.
- Provide regular reports to senior management on equipment status, maintenance performance, and project progress.
- Directly supervise the Maintenance Supervisor and Electro-Mechanical Technicians.
- Responsible for all supervisory activities in the maintenance department, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance management, and terminations.
- Oversee and evaluate the performance of maintenance staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that department objectives are met.
Qualifications:
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Proficiency in electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and fluid power systems.
- Experience in managing PLC systems (Allen Bradley preferred), robotic systems, and industrial vision systems.
- Strong ability to read, troubleshoot, and program PLC ladder logic and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical drawings.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan, schedule, and manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment and make critical decisions quickly
- Proven ability to lead, train, and develop a team, with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Experience with implementing and managing preventive maintenance programs and driving process improvements.
- Knowledge of CMMS software, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.), and PLC programming tools (RS Logix and RS Links preferred).
- Familiarity with national and local codes (NEC, NFPA) related to equipment and system maintenance.
- Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related technical field required (Bachelor's preferred).
- 7+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
- Combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Alternate education and experience considered based on individual candidate.
Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Physical Demands:
- Must be highly safety conscious.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work with high voltage electrical systems and mechanical components.
- Standing for extended periods of time.
- Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work
Work Environment:
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.
- Occasional exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and moving mechanical components.
